Last week, Class 7 travelled to India! It was an exciting beginning to the week, as Che’s mum very kindly came in to teach us some Bollywood dancing. It was a great experience and Class 7 listened carefully and learnt some of the moves really quickly.
We also looked at some Mehndi patterns and created our own beautiful designs on paper hands. We used lots of detail to make our patterns interesting.
Class 7 looked at the 5 K’s of Sikhism and made posters describing each one.
As part of our Year 2 assembly, Class 7 have helped to write a class poem, including all their favourite things about Hilltop Infants. The children suggested some very thoughtful ideas and even had a go at rhyming.
Class 7 have written some brilliant rhymes this week, in the style of the Indian counting rhyme, “Engine, Engine”. First, we tried adding in colours and some matching rhyming words and then, for our Big Write, used animal names. We also thought hard about the rhythms we could use to help the poem to flow.
This week, we are in Ghana. Already, we have been lucky enough to take part in an African drumming workshop. Class 7 were SO enthusiastic and tried really hard to keep the beat. They were also really sensible and showed their fabulous listening skills.
