Welcome back!

Posted by on 16/01/2014

Welcome back everybody. Hope you have all had a lovely break. We’re nearly two weeks in now and Class 7 have been working so hard! In Literacy we have been learning the story of Mrs Armitage On Wheels. We put actions to the story to help us remember all of the exciting story language that the author, Quentin Blake, uses. Then we had a go at thinking of our own ideas for a similar story. We invented ideas for things we could add to a pair of rollerskates that would make them even better! This week we looked at lots of different types of punctuation and how to use them, such as speech marks, question marks, exclamation marks, commas and full stops. Tomorrow in our Big Write, Class 7 are going to write their own stories about their super rollerskates, remembering to use all that exciting punctuation.

In Maths we have been looking at multiplication and division. We looked at using repeated addition and arrays to help us with our multiplication sentences. This week, we looked at finding halves and quarters of shapes and numbers and dividing by 2 and 4.

This term our Topic will be Professor Spark’s Inventions and as part of this the homework for this week was to create our own inventions. We can’t wait to share our ideas and start thinking about how we’re going to make them.

To prepare for creating our inventions, we have been looking at different making skills. Last week we spent some time building tables out of paper that were strong enough to hold a pencil. Tomorrow, we are going to see if we can build the tallest tower we can out of paper, without it falling down!
