What a busy start to our last half term it’s been! This time our topic is based on the painting ‘Surprised!’ by Henri Rousseau. We talked about the painting and thought of some questions we would like to find out about it, such as “Why is there a tiger in the painting?”, “Why is there a storm?”, “Why is the tiger jumping?” and “Why is the tiger scared?!”. We are looking forward to exploring these questions.

In Literacy we have been looking at story settings and have tried to describe the jungle setting of the painting. In Maths, we are doing lots of number work. We have practised finding the next number in a sequence, ordering numbers (including decimal numbers for some of us) and soon we will be looking at different ways of solving addition calculations.

The lovely sunny weather has meant we have been able to go outside and enjoy PE on the field. Today, Class 8 came to join us for part of the afternoon and we had a great time playing circle time games on the playground.

All the Year 2’s have been to Juniors this week, for lunch on Wednesday and today for a play on their playground. We have had a circle time about how we felt about our visits, what we liked, what worried us and what was different to the Infants.
